Most New Zealanders’ only experience of a safety deposit box is through a bank — and most banks have been quietly closing that service down. Imperial Vaults was set up in 2016 specifically to fill that gap: a dedicated, professionally managed safety deposit box facility and precious metals vault, built for the job rather than bolted onto a branch.
That distinction matters for security. A purpose-built vault is designed around access control, surveillance, and physical hardening from the ground up, rather than retrofitted into a retail banking floor. Every part of our facility — from biometric access scanning through to our dual-key procedures — was specified for this one purpose.
How We Verify Our Own Security
We don’t ask customers to take our word for it. Our premises undergo regular, independent reviews of our physical security and operating procedures, and access logs are maintained for every entry to the vault floor — not just the front door. You can bring your items on your visit and try with our Sample Boxes.
Can I upgrade to a larger box later?
You have freedom to upgrade or downgrade on a pro Rata and paying the difference.
